I made this for a friend's 40th birthday (they celebrated with dinner at a sushi restaraunt). The base is a 9"x13" cake that was iced in buttercream and then covered in fondant. The sushi pieces are mini-muffins that I frosted, wrapped in a thin black piece of fondant, and topped gumpaste rice (made with a garlic press). The sashimi pieces are gumpaste and sit on small cake slices that were iced in buttercream and then covered in fondant and wrapped with a thin black piece of fondant. The ramkin is a mini-muffin wrapped in gumpaste and topped off with black buttercream frosting to respresent the sauce. The chopsticks are gumpaste. TYFL!
A few years ago my niece convinced me to enroll in the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes. I enrolled, and sixteen weeks later, I successfully completed all of the courses. It was such a great experience! I got to meet a lot of wonderful ladies and I learned a lot. In my spare time, I enjoy decorating cakes for family and friends. My blog is a way for me to share my treats with you.
Please note: I may not update the blog often, but whenever possible, I try and go back and fill in the blanks. So if you have not visited in a while, be sure to scroll back through the posts as there may be something that you missed. Thanks for stopping by and as always, thanks for KeepinUpWKaren.
