Baby Boy Safari Cake & Cupcake Ensemble

My dear friends are expecting a baby boy in February and they had a Safari themed baby shower. The colors were blue and brown and due to the large turnout, we had to plan accordingly when it came to the cakes. We had four dozen cupcakes, an 8"x3" round cake that sat on top of the large cupcake tower, a sheet cake, and the baby blocks were made using the square wilton cupcake pan (2 cakes were stacked with frosting to creat a square). The baby blocks and some of the cupcakes were Devils Food and the remaining cakes were white cake. The cakes were iced with buttercream frosting. The blue frosting was tinted buttercream. Chocolate frosting was used on some of the cupcakes. Fondant accents were used on the baby blocks (letters & shapes) and the round cake. Rasberry & chocolate sugar crystals were spinkled on the cupcakes and the top of the round cake.

The cupcake wrappers were cut using a Cricut machine and the Cupcake Wrapper Cricut Lite cartridge. The fondant accents (letters & shapes) were cut using the Cricut Cake machine. The wreath was wrapped in riboon and various ribbon types were cut and tied around the form.

Casino Cupcakes & Dice Cake Pops

Keller William's Realty hosted their Casino Night 2011 and I was requested to make a display. This was my first time making cake pops. Thanks to my daughter, I now own Bakerella's Cake Pops book and I cannot wait to make another batch.

I used my Cricut E2 Anniversary Edition to cut the cupcake wrappers using the Cricut Lite Cupcake Wrappers Cartridge and some casino themed paper. The cake pops on the top tier were placed in a styrofoam stand, the others were placed on 1"x1" wax paper sheets, and the cupcakes were decorated with buttercream frosting and poker chips.

The event was a success and I was really glad to be able to participate. Thanks Monica!

I am such a foodie and dessert tops my list of favorites. It's my all-time favorite comfort food and when my sister-in-law comes to town, you can be sure there will be some baking going on. Her most recent visit was for my husbands 40th birthday and we celebrated by having the Grilled Pound-cake from Caper's Restaraunt in Kennesaw, GA.

The few nights that we were at the house, we decided to whip out a few new pans. Her special request for for red velvet cake so I decided to use the mini-bundt pans for baking and topped each cake with my awesome cream cheese frosting.

For movie night, we fell back on an old favorite, hot fudge brownie sundaes. I used the Wilton square cavity pan for these and they allowed everyone to have a piece with crust. Yummy!

Zoe turned a year and she had a party fit for a princess! Skye even made her a custom tutu for the event. and she wasted no time rolling around in her Princess and the Frog Ball Pit! Thanks everyone for helping to make her first birthday a success and thank you 'Yum Yum' for being the best big brother and teaching Zoe how to walk!

The cupcake wrappers were cut using the Cricut Lite Cupcake Wrappers Cartridge. The cake and cupcakes were iced in buttercream, the decorations were from a kit and were topped with purple and green sugar crystals.

Happy 2nd Birthday Kinsley

Can you believe that Kinsely is 2 years old?? Her mom wanted to have a Strawberry Shortcake Themed party. We made the cutest Strawberry themed invitations using the Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut Cartridge, we had to follow it up with an adorable cake.

We were lucky to find the Strawberry Shortcake Wilton pan on Craigslist just in time for Kinsley's big day. Since everyone wanted to come out to celebrate, we decided that in addition to the character pan, we would use the large sheet cake pan as well. We placed the shaped cake on top of the frosted sheet cake and decorated with tinted buttercream.

Kinsley's paternal grandmother made her and her baby doll matching strawberry themed dresses and I was lucky enough to surprise her with the cutest Strawberry Shortcake director's chair. Will we ever be able to top this year's party?? Be sure to check back next year to see!

Hunter's Birthday Brawl - Bakugan

This was my second time using the Frozen Buttercream Frosting Transfer (FBCT) method. Each cake is a learning adventure for me. I now know to freeze the FBCT after piping each individual color and most importantly DO NOT let the transfer sit and thaw -- you must immediately place it on the cake and peel it off. In addition, since I was not familiar with Bakugan, this one took some research; THANKS to my neighbors and their collection of Bakugans, I was able to come up with something unique for Hunter's 8th Birthday.

The base cake was a 12" x 12" square frosted in buttercream. I applied the FBCT, border, and corner stars to tie in all of the colors. The Bakugan was made using the Wilton Sports Ball pan set. I star tipped the sphere and secured it to the cake using a bamboo skewer that I was able to drive through the cake board.

Julius Cake & Cupcake Tower

My friend was having a Paul Frank themed party for her daughter's 10th Birthday. I wanted the cake to look similiar to the invitation so I used the Frozen Buttercream Transfer method (FBCT) achieve my results. This was my first time using the method. It was an easy process, but it will take some more practice on the detail.

Her color theme was teal, yellow, and red. I made the cupcake wrappers with my baby Cricut and the Cricut Lite Cupcake Wrapper cartridge (LOVE IT!!!!). The paper is scrapbook paper from my growing collection that had all of the colors for her theme.

I decided to add a cherry to the cupcakes with white frosting so that they'd look like ice cream (like the top of Julius' head).

Sushi & Sashimi Cake

I made this for a friend's 40th birthday (they celebrated with dinner at a sushi restaraunt). The base is a 9"x13" cake that was iced in buttercream and then covered in fondant. The sushi pieces are mini-muffins that I frosted, wrapped in a thin black piece of fondant, and topped gumpaste rice (made with a garlic press). The sashimi pieces are gumpaste and sit on small cake slices that were iced in buttercream and then covered in fondant and wrapped with a thin black piece of fondant. The ramkin is a mini-muffin wrapped in gumpaste and topped off with black buttercream frosting to respresent the sauce. The chopsticks are gumpaste. TYFL!

Welcome Home from the Navy Cake

I made this for a friend who's son was coming home from the Navy. The base is a 11"x15" cake that was iced in buttercream and then covered in fondant. The uniform, bow, and rope trim was made with fondant. The cap was half of the sports ball pan that I iced with buttercream and covered in fondant. TYFL!

Happy Birthday Ladybug

I received my Martha Stewart Cricut Cake mahine a few weeks ago and I could not wait to test it out so I decided to use it to make this cake.

This was a ladybug cake that I made for a friend's 3rd birthday. It's and 8"x3" cake frosted with buttercream. The lettering and ladybug's are fondant cut with my Martha Stewart Cricut Cake mahine. Thanks for looking!

I made this cake for my husband's school to welcome the faculty & staff back to school. The fondant accents were made with gumpaste using the Cricut Cake. The notebook pages & binder rings are gum paste as well. Edible markers were used to write on the pages. To ensure there was enough cake for everyone, I made cupcakes as well. The cupcake wrappers were made by my 10 year old son using the Cricut Cupcake Wrapper cartridge and scrapbook paper.

Luau Cake

I made this cake for a friend's Luau Party. It was a lot of fun to make and it's perfect for those backyard get-togethers. All you need is some tiki torches and a few good friends and you have an instant good time.

I was inspired by another cake that I saw on Cake Central. I used a 12"x8"x2" pan for the base and then carved it to form the bodice, the boobs are made using both halves of the Wilton sports ball pan set. I decorated it with a coconut bra and lei that I purchased from the dollare store. It's frosted in buttercream using the triple star tip for the bodice and tip #5 for the grass skirt.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

What better way to surprise a soon-to-be 10 year old that knows everything? You plan a party a month before his actual birthday. We did just that for my son and we had a great time! We grabbed a few of our close family and friends and surprised him at the local movie theater during the opening weekend of the Diary of A Wimpy Kid Movie. In honor of the occasion, I made a cake that was modeled after the books in the series. A great time was had by all!

I made this cake for my bestie's birthday. I thought a lime cake would stand out against a white background. The cake is covered in fondant with lime and black accents. This was my first attempt at the fondant roses and making lime.
